AWS Account Billing

You can check the usage fees for the services used in your AWS account. You can obtain information for cost optimization, such as usage ratios for each service, daily fee trends, and fees by tag for resources to which you have assigned tags.

Clicking the "AWS Account Details" button will take you to the AWS account details screen.

Billing Alarm

You can set up cost alarm on your AWS account. If the cost (excluding Payment) for current month exceeds the threshold, the notification will be sent to the e-mail address set as Billing-TO and Billing-CC. The alarms can be set up with a threshold of up to 3. The notification is sent at most once a month per alarm.

The 1-2 day delay will occur because the alarm notification is sent after calculating usage cost. Please note that the latest usage cost displayed in the portal is not matched it.

Click on the "Edit billing alarms" button to change the configuration information.

The alarm notification will be sent after the calculation of your charges, so there will be a delay of 1-2 days. Please note that there may be a slight difference from the latest usage.

  • Monthly fee: RI/SP monthly fee
  • Regular usage fees: Usage fees other than prepaid and monthly fees
  • Marketplace fees: Fees for using AWS Marketplace
  • Members Discount: Classmethod Members discount fee

Billing Information Tabs

Daily

In the Daily tab, you can check usage cost transition for days and accumulated cost with a bar chart. It can be useful to compare usage costs while the regular term and the spikey access term.

In the daily graph, the regular usage cost (pay-as-you-go cost occurred daily) only is shown by default. To include Reserved Instance cost paid by all upfront or partial upfront, select “Prepayments included” from the toggle in the top right.

Details

You can view a breakdown of your charges per service. You can also check more detailed statements such as the amount billed per instance for each service.

Service

In the Service tab, you can check the usage cost for each AWS service with a bar-chart. The items of the AWS service that occupied less than 5% of all usage costs are aggregated to one item as Others.

Tag

In the Tag tab, you can check the classified rate of usage cost for each AWS service based on the CmBillingGroup custom tagged service with a pi-chart. This is a feature that displays the usage by tag, similar to the AWS user-defined cost allocation tags. It helps to check the usage cost of an AWS account that multiple services are running or check the usage cost rate for each environment.

The tagged usage cost will be reflected cost information of tags after you tagged services. Note that the timing of reflection is the next day or later.

Data Transfer

In the Data Transfer tab, you can check the usage cost rate for outbound traffic from AWS with a bar-chart. Generally, the outbound traffic cost is likely to occupy the 2nd large after instances like EC2 or so usage cost in the entire AWS usage cost. So we can use it as a hint of cost-saving tips.

Monthly

In the monthly tab, you can check the monthly usage cost for the latest 12 months with a bar chart.

Alarm

The Alarms tab displays a list of charge alarms and a list of charge alarms by tag. It also displays the current fee status for each alarm.

Switching the chart legend display

You can switch the turning on/off display of the items in each graph by clicking on the item names in the legend (a list of labels). And, to double-click on the item name, you can switch to display the specific item.

Finalization of usage cost

The cost and its detail displayed in the Member’s Portal are periodically aggregated from data delivered by AWS. The date and time our system calculated usage cost is updated at the bottom of each cost tab page. Note that the displayed usage cost is not always matched invoice cost because the data is calculated by delivered information when you open the Classmethod Members portal.

The usage cost on the invoice is calculated for months and billed after finalized usage cost. If the cost is not finalized, the Unfinalized Icon is shown. After the finalization of usage cost, the icon will be disappeared, and the cost will not fluctuate.
